Dubbak: Cops Seize Cash From BJP Leader House

The seizure of nearly Rs 18 lakh from the residence of Bharatiya Janata Party leader M Raghunandan Rao’s in-laws at Siddipet on Monday evening triggered uproar in the BJP camp.

Raghunandan Rao is contesting as BJP candidate in the by-elections to Dubbak assembly seat and the party leaders accused the police of fabricating the whole incident at the behest of ruling Telangana Rashtra Samithi. The by-elections for Dubbak assembly seat will be held on November 3.

Raghunandan cut short his election campaign in Dubbak and rushed to Siddipet, but the police did not allow him to enter inside his house and even not allowed to speak to his wife.

BJP state president Bandi Sanjay also went to Siddipet along with hundreds of party workers to stage a protest demonstration. Sanjay was arrested midway.

A large number of BJP workers gathered in front of Raghunandan Rao house in Siddipet and condemned the police action, raising slogans against the TRS government.

BJP leaders described the police raids as “political vendetta” as TRS was using the police fearing defeat. The police were acting in a highhanded manner to create fear in the minds of the BJP workers, Sanjay alleged.

He further alleged that police did not show any notice before conducting the raids and even threatened inmates of house.

TRS leader and state finance minister T Harish Rao alleged that the BJP leaders were trying to gain false sympathy from the people following police raids. He said law would take its own course.
