TDP MLA fumes at Naidu's nepotism!

TDP MLA fumes at Naidu's nepotism!

Telugu Desam Party legislator Maddali Giridhar Rao, who met YSR Congress party president and chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy the other day and praised his government’s programmes, appears to be provoking the TDP leadership to suspend him from the party, so that he can safely shift the loyalty to YSRC.

Giri, who represents Guntur (West) assembly constituency, wrote a letter to party president and former chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Thursday and questioned the propriety of appointing a party in-charge for his constituency without taking his consent.

He alleged that Naidu had been encouraging only one particular community in the party and suppressing the voices of other community leaders.

He said out of 17 assembly constituencies in Guntur district, the TDP leadership had given tickets for nine seats only to one particular community. “You should make an introspection in this regard,” Giri said.

He defended his meeting with the chief minister saying it was only for the development of the constituency. “I explained to him the issues of my constituency and the chief minister immediately released Rs 25 crore for the same.

Without even asking me as to why I had met Jagan, you have appointed another party in-charge for my constituency,” Giri alleged.

The Guntur (West) MLA sought to know why the TDP chief had not appointed another person as in-charge in Gannavaram, where sitting MLA Vallabhaneni Vamsi had changed loyalties. “Why is there no in-charge for the party in Sattenapalli constituency after the death of Kodela Sivaprasada Rao? Why was no action taken against the party MLAs from Visakhapatnam who spoke against Amaravati as the capital?” he asked.

Giri said he had been with the TDP even during its bad phase. “Is it the way to treat an MLA? I am still in the TDP.

Though I have not changed the party, you have appointed another person as in-charge of the constituency. And you have provoked the party workers to tear my flex banners at the TDP office. How is it justified?” the MLA asked Naidu.
