Vivek Spurned KCR Offer?

Former Congress MP and owner of V6 television channel G Vivek is learnt to have spurned a lucrative offer from Telangana Rashtra Samithi president and Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao.

According to sources, KCR has invited Vivek back into the TRS and offered to field him from Warangal parliamentary constituency in the ensuing by-elections, which are necessitated with sitting MP Kadiam Srihari becoming the Deputy Chief Minister in the State Cabinet.

Vivek, who had joined the TRS a couple of years ago, returned to the Congress last year, after the latter granted separate Statehood to Telangana.

Sources said KCR could not find a better person than Vivek to contest from Warangal in the by-elections as the latter is rich and influential. Vivek also carries the sympathy factor of his father G Venkatswamy, who died recently. Moreover, if Vivek comes back into the TRS, KCR would also get the support of V6 which is the only power channel in the Telangana.

However, Vivek reportedly rejected the offer, saying that it would not be proper for him to change parties so often. Secondly, he is apprehensive that he might face resistance from local TRS cadres in Warangal, as he hails from Adilabad. Thirdly, it would damage his image in the long run, as the anti-establishment feeling is gradually building up against the TRS. He can maintain his identity if he remains neutral till the next elections.
