The opposition TDP had successfully conducted its annual Mahanadu event in Ongole with much fanfare.
With TDP holding Mahanadu, Jana Sena chief Pawan Kalyan anticipated the party to make an announcement on the electoral alliance ahead of 2024 general elections.
Pawan Kalyan had made several statements on the unity among the opposition parties in the state to keep anti-government vote undivided.
He offered to convince the BJP leadership for alliance with the TDP in the larger interests of defeating the ruling YSR Congress.
TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu too made similar statements and even offered to make sacrifices to keep anti-incumbency vote intact.
Pawan Kalyan anticipated a clear statement by the TDP at Mahanadu giving him and his Jana Sena due importance in the next election.
However, the TDP did not make any reference either to the Jana Sena’s call for opposition unity or the alliance among the non-YSR Congress parties in the state.
There was not even an indirect reference to Pawan Kalyan at the Mahanadu, which pained the Jana Sena chief.
The entire Mahanadu ignored Jana Sena and Pawan Kalyan, indicating that the TDP doesn’t bother about any alliance with the Jana Sena or even its chief Pawan Kalyan.
Though Pawan Kalyan had been making statements in favour of alliance with the TDP and is ready even to break the alliance with the BJP, it was shocking that the TDP did not make any reference to the junior partner.
The absolute silence of the TDP at Mahanadu over the political alliances seems to have made Pawan Kalyan to have second thoughts on his pro-TDP politics.
Sources say that the Jana Sena chief is now rethinking on his one-side love with the TDP and stay truthful to the BJP.
It is not too late for Pawan Kalyan to understand the opportunistic politics of Chandrababu Naidu and keep away from the TDP, if the Jana Sena is to survive in politics.
Will Pawan Kalyan learn a lesson now and focus on shaping his own politics or will he fall prey to the politics of Chandrababu Naidu?
