Setting A Very Bad Example

Setting A Very Bad Example

Both KCR and Chandrababu Naidu are setting extremely bad examples with their blatant violation of rules.

As elected Chief Ministers, their responsibility is to govern according to the constitution but they are doing the very opposite of that.

Chandrababu Naidu’s new capital vision poses a serious threat to the ecology of the area and the National Green Tribunal has also ordered a halt to the work there.

But Naidu is showing scant respect for the Tribunal’s orders and going ahead with the work. Similarly, the Tribunal has given a stay order on the ‘Bhadradri Thermal Power Plant’ being constructed 300 kms from Hyderabad.

The project is yet to get environmental clearance but the TRS government is going ahead with the work. Now, if Naidu and KCR wish to go ahead with projects despite criticism from the public, fine! But they should go about things in a legal manner.

What is preventing them from waiting until they get environmental clearances? And if heads of state themselves show disrespect to bodies like the ‘Green Tribunal’, how long before the public also decides to follow suit?
