The “yellow media” has gone ga ga over the invitation received by Andhra Pradesh chief minister and Telugu Desam Party president N Chandrababu Naidu from the World Economic Forum for attending the annual meeting to be held at Davos in Switzerland in January 2017.
While the TDP leaders claimed it as a recognition to Naidu, who they described as one the great economists of modern times, the pro-TDP media said it was a rare honour for the chief minister to get the invitation for several times.
And since AP stood at the no. 1 position in the Ease of Doing Business rankings given by the World Bank, his Davos visit would fetch a lot of mileage to the state, they said.
However, it was revealed on Wednesday that the World Economic Forum has invited not just Naidu, but even his Telangana counterpart K Chandrasekhar Rao.
A statement from the Telangana CMO which was quietly released to the media without any hungama said Prof Klaus Schwab, Founder and Executive Chairman of World Economic Forum has written a letter congratulating KCR for achieving the top rank in the "Ease of Doing Business Reforms Ranking 2015-16.”
He also invited CM for WEFs Annual Meeting to be held in Davos in January 2017, the statement said.
If KCR attends the Davos meet, it will definitely be curious to see whether he would outsmart Naidu or remains subdued in his presentation.
