“I will do away with corruption,” said Narendra Modi in his Independence Day. This has got to be the biggest joke on Independence Day.
BJP Minister of Maharashtra, Pooja Munde is facing corruption charges as are Sushma Swaraj, Vasundhara Raje and Shivraj Chauhan. Yet, they continue in office as the Prime Minister has turned a deaf year to cries for their resignations.
The BJP defends them saying, “Di d you not (Congress) do it too?” In a sense, Narendra Modi is turning out to be a clone of Manmohan Singh.
Manmohan Singh personally had a very clean image but he is turned a blind eye to the massive corruption charges against his colleagues which resulted in public discontent and anger and was eventually responsible for booting the UPA 2 out of power.
Similarly, there is no point in Modi having a clean image and letting his colleagues get away.
