Long Wait For Loan Waiver In AP

The Chandrababu Naidu government’s grandiose announcement on crop loan waiver is going to take some more time before being implemented, keeping the distressed farmers in a long wait.

TDP MP and chairman of Resource Management Committee on loan waiver Y S Chowdary, also known as Sujana Chowdary, declared on Friday that a final decision on the modalities of loan waiver would be taken by September end.

It clearly implies that the government would take a decision only on modalities on loan waiver scheme and one does not know how much more time it takes for the decision to come into implementation.

Sujana Chowdary said the Chief Minister and his team discussed the modalities of loan waiver for three long hours.

The State government would come out with the final decision on the modalities of loan waiver (to farmers and DWCRA groups) by the end of this month. “This is the time for final decision,” he said.

Chowdary revealed that the government was considering the possibility to establish a corporation through which bonds would be issued to farmers.

He informed that the government was considering immediate cash payments, issuance of bond certificates and installments system.

“Farmers can use bonds in banks to get fresh loans and crop insurance. They can also submit the bonds at the Corporation and encash them”, he said, adding that the delay has also been partly because of lack of data from banks.
