In an unprecedented protest, Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, along with Left parliamentarians, held a dharna in Delhi on Friday in front of the Rail Bhavan against the Railway Ministry’s decision to scrap the proposal to establish a Rs. 550 crore coach factory in Palakkad district.

This was promised to them way back in 1982, imagine that! It was formally announced in the 2008 Railway Budget.

In 2012, the State government handed over 240 acres of land to the Railway Ministry. All along, the Ministry maintained that there were no takers for the project.

“We spoke to the Steel Authority of India Limited, and they are ready to take it up. But it seems the Union government has made up its mind against it,” said Pinari Vijayan.

For a Rs 550 crore project, the entire administration of Kerala moved to Delhi and staged a protest led by their Chief Minister.

With all due respect to them, what is a Rs 550 crore project compared to what was promised to Andhra Pradesh at the time of bifurcation?

Yet, Chandrababu has the time to express solidarity with Arvind Kejriwal but does not find the time to take to the streets of Delhi himself. Why?

Probably, he has a lot of skeletons in his cupboard. If he takes the fight to Modi in Delhi, he might find himself running around Courts and Chandrababu is not YS Jagan to fight the Centre single-handedly.
