Guntur: A large number of farmers of Penumaka and Undavalli villages in Guntur district dashed off postcards to Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday expressing their reluctance to give their fields for 'land pooling' required for construction of capital city of Andhra Pradesh.
The farmers urged Narendra Modi to stop the Andhra Pradesh government from acquiring fertile land.
“Land along the right bank of Krishna river is highly fertile. It produces over 150 varieties of crops,” the farmers wrote in their letter to the prime minister.
Farmer leader G Naresh Reddy said the postcard campaign will continue till the Centre reacts to their demand.
