House Sites Allotment Without GO?

The Telangana government’s announcement on allotment of house sites to the poor and seeking applications from them has kicked up controversy.

Thousands of people thronged the Hyderabad Collectorate in the last two days to submit their applications for house plots. Similar was the situation at all MRO offices. Special counters were opened at the Collectorate for receipt of applications.

However, the government has so far not issued any GO or any official instructions for collection of applications for house site allotment. Describing the whole episode as a major scam, Telangana Congress leaders on Thursday demanded a CID inquiry into the campaign in the city on giving free housing to poor without any government order.

A delegation of senior party leaders, including Marri Shashidhar Reddy, Anjan Kumar Yadav, Rajaiah, MLC M S Prabhakar, M. Ranga Reddy, Niranjan and Banda Karthika Reddy called on the Governor and submitted a representation to Narasimhan urging to order probe into the false campaign and call for report within a fortnight.

Shashidhar Reddy said in the Cantonment area he found some applications in the MRO office for allotment of house sites by the poor. But these applications were not according to the GOs Nos 58 and 59, he added.
