One can run a movement by whipping up regional or religious passions among the people and playing on their sentiments, but running a government a different ball game.
This was pointed out by Union minister Jairam Ramesh, who played a key role in the State bifurcation as member of Group of Ministers on Telangana.
He said ruling a State on sound lines was not as easy as spearheading a movement for a cause. Obviously, he was referring to the Telangana Rashtra Samithi which has refused to merge with the Congress party.
Participating in a party workers’ meeting, Jairam Ramesh observed that He also made it clear that Congress party remained strong in the Telangana region even without an alliance with the Telangana Rashtra Samithi.
Stating that Congress party was ready to forge alliances with like-minded parties, he reiterated that Andhra Pradesh was not bifurcated just for the sake of votes and seats but to bring about social justice to the poor and downtrodden.
He reiterated that Andhra Pradesh was divided strictly as per the Constitution to form separate Telangana State and hence there would be no problem if anybody knocked doors of justice against the process of bifurcation.
