Excise Minister's Antics Boomerang!

Excise Minister's Antics Boomerang!

Telangana excise minister T Padma Rao Goud is attracting headlines for wrong reasons these days.

The other day the minister created a furore by displaying liquor bottles in Secretariat to prove his point that the government is trying to sell these liquor bottles for cheaper rates by reducing taxes and not trying to sell 'cheap liquor' as alleged by Opposition parties.

Recently, the minister visited Karimnagar district to examine the functioning of his department.

There he saw a young lady who is a excise inspector. The minister immediately went near her and asked her name and family details. Soon he asked whether she was married. She replied that she got engaged only recently and would get married soon.

The minister asked her whether marriage would not pose a problem for her since she is a police officer. She told him that she can manage both job and her family. Later he asked, how much money she could arrange for her marriage till now. When she could not reply, the minister immediately put his hand on her shoulder and gave a pat laughingly. This shocked other excise and police officials who were present there.

Realising that his act may turn controversial, the minister soon tried to rectify it saying that she was like my daughter and that's why he patted her on her shoulder.

However, the incident came as an embarrassment for everyone present there who later commented that it would be better if minister tries to be in his limits instead of giving clarifications later.
