IAS silent, but employees fume at TDP!

The IAS officers in Andhra Pradesh preferred to play safe by not coming out openly against Telugu Desam Party president and Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu for making derogatory references to chief secretary L V Subrahmanyam, though their retired colleagues complained to Governor E S L Narasimhan against Naidu.

But, the state government employees are not remaining silent over the high-handed attitude of the TDP leaders, who are obviously emboldened by Naidu’s attack on the chief secretary.

In the latest episode, TDP legislator from Venkatagiri Kurugondla Ramakrishna for using un-Parliamentary language against a state government employee working as a Bay Food Technical Assistant (BFTA) morning in a phone conversation.

"He was questioning the employee on postal ballots and threatened to skin the government employees if they did not vote for the TDP. Though the employee pleaded ignorance, the MLA continued his tirade,” Andhra Pradesh State Government Employees Association president Suryanarayana.

He took strong objection to the comments made by the MLA against employees and the administrative system.

Demanding an apology from the MLA, Suryanarayana said he had brought the issue to the notice of the Chief Election Commissioner at New Delhi and he, in turn, had instructed the Nellore District Collector to enquire into the matter and submit a report.

He also asked the Chief Minister to rein in his partymen who were misbehaving with the State government staff.

He, while condemning the remarks, said Naidu’s criticism against the chief secretary L V Subramanyam and Chief Electoral Officer Gopalakrishna Dwivedi emboldened the TDP leaders to behave rudely with the government employees with unbridled arrogance.

Suryanarayana also blamed employees' unions which toed the line of the TDP government for the past five years.

"Some leaders cheated the employees by blatantly supporting the ruling party for their gains," he said.
