Enquiry Into IPS Officer ABV Completed

The institutional enquiry into allegations against senior IPS officer A B Venkateswara Rao was completed on Sunday.

The institutional enquiry was directed by the Supreme Court, before it goes for final hearing.

The IPS officer himself had cross examined 21 witnesses in the past 14 days.

Venkateswara Rao, who was suspended by the Jagan Mohan Reddy government, is facing charges of corruption and conspiracy.

He alleged that fake documents were created against him to frame corruption charges against him.

He said he had exposed all the fake documents and fake witnesses. He claimed that he was being victimised.

Venkateswara Rao, who was close to former chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu, and allegedly played key role in taking 23 MLAs from the YSR Congress to the TDP during 2014-19, was the first target of the Jagan government.

Venkateswara Rao was the most trusted IPS officer during Chandrababu Naidu regime and was tipped for Nuzvid Assembly constituency on TDP ticket in 2019 elections.

He is also accused of handling TDP internal issues besides being tough with the Opposition leaders, as head of the State Intelligence Bureau.

It is to be seen whether he would come out clean from the corruption charges or not.
