AP To Give Vaccine To Mothers Too

Ahead of the impending third wave of Covid 19, the Andhra Pradesh government had taken the decision to give vaccine to the mothers, who have children below the age of 5 years.

As the third wave is feared to hit the children largely, the government had taken the decision to protect the mothers first on priority.

According to an estimate, over 15 lakh to 20 lakh mothers would get the vaccine in this special drive, whose children are below the age of five years.

The state government had already directed the village volunteers and the village health workers to identify these mothers and prepare a list.

The government would coordinate with them to give two doses of vaccine in a fixed schedule.

Besides protecting the mothers, the government had also decided to have a network of paediatricians across the state.

The paediatricians would assist the government in providing health care to the children if they are victims of the Covid 19 third wave as predicted.

The government is also readying the primary health care centers and all teaching hospitals, area hospitals to have special wards exclusively for children, before the third wave hits them.
