All mandal headquarter towns in Andhra Pradesh would have double lane roads to the district headquarters soon.
Similarly, all villages will have road connectivity to the mandal headquarters town.
The New Development Bank is offering a financial support of Rs 6,400 crore to the state government to provide this road connectivity.
Right now, not many mandal headquarter towns have direct connectivity to the district headquarters town or the major city in the region.
The new programme would connect all villages with the mandal headquarters and the all mandals with the district headquarters.
Most of the district headquarters are connected to one or the other national highway and this connectivity would provide better movement of passenger and cargo vehicles.
Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy cleared the project during a review meeting with the officials on Monday.
The chief minister told the officials to monitor the development of the national highways, particularly the Bengaluru-Vijayawada national highway.
He also told them to monitor the works on the Visakhapatnam to Sabbavaram and Visakhapatnam to Anandapuram national highways.
