India has sent a Gujarati film named “Chhello Show” (The Last Show) as its official entry for the Oscars 2023.
The Film Federation of India’s committee after watching all the entries has selected the Gujarati film deemed to be India’s entry.
The committee picked this film over other contenders like “RRR” and “The Kashmir Files”.
Rajamouli’s team and fans have created a lot of buzz on social media about the Oscar entry for “RRR”. Every other day, hashtags like “NTR Goes Global”, and “Oscars for RRR” were created.
But the committee was not at all impressed. India’s jury felt “Chhello Show” has merit over “RRR” and “Kashmir Files”.
What chances “RRR” will have now? The film can be selected into main categories by the Oscars committee. But such instances happen very rarely.
To make this happen, Rajamouli and his team will have to spend nearly Rs 50 crore for publicity. Who will bear that much amount of money?
