Team Chanakya has taken everyone by surprise when they announced the release date as October 5.
With Sye Raa releasing in the same week, it is an interesting decision to release Chanakya especially while Gopichand is going through lean phase at the box office.
Gopichand said that they had decided to go for Dussera release even before Sye Raa was announced.
"Our film was supposed to release in May, but it got pushed to Dussera and later Sye Raa's release date was finalized. We don't have better date to release and hence we zeroed in on October 5th after talking to our distributors," he told.
Gopichand is confident that his film will stand its ground against mighty Sye Raa as both the genres are different and also because of the three days gap between the releases.
Sye Raa has been facing the heat of multi-starrer War in the Hindi markets. Sye Raa couldn't get enough shows because of the strong distribution muscle of Yash Raj Films.
