Dr Reddy: 'Such People Are Prone To Covid-19 Re-Lapse'

Dr Dasaratha Rama Reddy, the Chief Orthopaedic Surgeon of Yashoda Hospitals has shared some information on the Covid situation and the earliest possibility of arrival of the vaccine.

Here are the highlights.

Situation: We are expecting a downtrend and flattening of the curve in India soon. But MIT and John Hopkins of Baltimore predict that India will see a daily record of 2,30,000 cases per day by January 23rd 2021.

They are prestigious in their field of study and never go wrong. But let us wish that their prediction misses in this matter and India sees not the rise but a downward trend in the number of cases very soon.

Social Media Abuse: Somebody should draw a line to social media. Social Media abuse is frightening and confusing the people with rumors and misleading advice.

Some people have lost their lives by following unscientific methods in the name of Covid precautions and misuse of some medicines.

Re-Lapses: Relapses are happening here and there. There is an opinion that the people who can't sustain antibodies after the first attack of Covid-19 are prone for a second attack.

Some researchers say that the antibodies are sustaining in the bodies that fight and win against Covid-19 for not more than 3 to 4 months.

Some are saying that they will be there for a year. Nobody has command on this virus since this is new to the world.

Anybody, including the doctors of all streams say anything only as a hypothesis. Nothing is certain.

Vaccine And Guidelines: There is no vaccine to combat HIV even after 35 years of its first instance. I think Covid-19 also takes a similar path. It is not possible to make a perfect vaccine that can combat any strain of Covid-19.

Except Russia no other country has claimed that the vaccine for Covid-19 is ready. The Russians said that their trials are successful and some news says that even Putin's daughter was given a dose of the same.

But in my opinion, the system in India is very strict. Some countries may release their vaccine based on their laws as soon as possible, but in India it comes to the market only after thorough process and clearance after following the guidelines.

We can get approval only when the ICMR and other concerned bodies certify it as the 'least complication' or 'no complication' category of vaccine.
